Gary Buchholz

Retired Captain from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Gary was a peace officer for over thirty two years and has been involved in all phases of law enforcement. He has been the lead investigator on several murder investigations and numerous other serious felonies.  He is a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy at Quantico Virginia and he holds a lifetime teaching credential.

Gary has been the Lake County Superior Court Investigator since 2000. He has conducted thousands of investigations by order of the court into matters such as guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions and the civil proceedings related to them.



Jim Bauman

Jim is a retired Captain from the Lake County (California) Sheriff's Office. He has 29 years of law enforcement experience tenured from two California Sheriff's Departments, including 13 years in police administration as a command level officer.

Throughout his career as a peace officer, Jim has investigated hundreds of missing persons cases; coroner's cases; and criminal cases including homicides, assaults, burglaries, robberies, sex crimes, narcotics offenses, and fraud. He has conducted numerous undercover surveillance operations targeting  illegal alcohol sales and he was a traffic investigator for 3 years during his tenure with the Orange County Sheriff's Department.  

He  has extensive experience in conducting and supervising confidential personnel investigations; investigating and responding to civil liability claims for litigation; investigating worker's compensation claims; the management and security of confidential and public records; the investigation and analysis of coroner's investigations; and the supervision of numerous pre-employment background investigations.



Edward Bean

Ed is a former Lake County District Attorney's Investigator with over 21 years of combined law enforcement ecperience. He has experience and knowledge of advanced traffic accident investigation and traffic management, patrol radar, and DUI enforcement. He has testified as an expert regarding DUI and narcotic sales cases. He has conducted thousands of criminal investigations and the trial preparation for cases that range in scope such as homicide, vehicular manslaughter, domestic violence, the possession and sales of narcotics, environmental crimes, and gang related crimes.

As a former Lake County Deputy Sheriff he investigated coroner's cases and all manner of criminal investigations.

Ed has training from the Institute of Criminal Investigations in domestic violence, officer involved domestic violence, crime scene investigation and reconstruction, homicide and advanced homicide. He has training in the area of officer involved shootings and critical incidents.

Ed specializes in P.O.S.T compliant pre-employment background investigations for both law enforcement and civillian applicants.



Christine Jolin


Christine started her career with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and later joined the ranks of the Palo Alto Police Department. She has ten years of combined law enforcement experience. The last three years of her career she served as a Finincial Crimes Detective, working cases ranging from the theft of a few dollars, to her most extensive case in which nearly ten million dollars was stolen. During her time as a detective, she assisted on homicide, sex crimes, burglary, domestic violence and narcotics sales cases.

Christine also served as a Crime Scene Investigation Team member, specializing in the collection of all types of evidence, scene documentation and crime scene photography. She served as a defensive tactics instructor and was a certified Taser instructor.

Christine has attended advanced training from the Institute of Criminal Investigation in core investigative techniques, identity theft and financial crimes. She has also attended training from the United States Marshals Service on advance financial crimes and identity theft.

All investigators posess a current Private Investigator Licenses and have Error and Omissions (and liability) insurance.
